On May 22nd the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) will be taking a final vote on highway expansion in SB 1031. This is our last opportunity to say “NO HIGHWAYS”. Several commissioners have been on record at MTC meetings advocating for a portion of the funds generated by SB 1031 to be used for capital projects like highways. This is not acceptable. Roadway expenditures must be limited to state of good repair and safe and complete streets only. All investments in safe streets and ‘connectivity’ should be at minimum climate-neutral. Please join us in-person on May 22nd at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in San Francisco to ensure that MTC prioritizes transit service over capital projects!
